Cold Springs Precision’s Try Before You Buy course is designed for NYS pistol permit holders who want to purchased a firearm and want to make a confident, informed decision. This course provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with a wide variety of firearms before committing to a purchase.

Participants will experience different makes and models— and even types—from trusted manufacturers such as Canick, CZ, Glock, Kahr, Ruger, Sig Sauer, Smith & Wesson, Taurus, Walther, and others. Students will also take part in guided live-fire sessions, applying their newly learned skills on the range using instructor-provided firearms under the supervision of a highly qualified instructor.   While this training mirrors the final day experience of the pre-pistol course, it does not include the NYS qualification component.

With an emphasis on safe handling, legality, and responsible firearm ownership, this course is an ideal step for new permit holders seeking clarity, confidence, and practical experience before making their first purchase.
