Cold Springs Precision’s NYS-required pre-pistol course for Onondaga and Madison County, goes beyond the standard curriculum by giving students a true hands-on experience before they ever make a purchase. In addition to covering all state-mandated safety and instructional requirements, CSP includes a unique “Try Before You Buy” session where students can safely handle and compare a wide variety of firearms.

Participants will experience different makes and models— and even types—from trusted manufacturers such as Canick, CZ, Glock, Kahr, Ruger, Sig Sauer, Smith & Wesson, Taurus, Walther, and others. Students will also take part in guided live-fire sessions, applying their newly learned skills on the range using instructor-provided firearms under the supervision of a highly qualified instructor.

Because the course goes beyond the NYS-required live-fire qualification, it is taught in five shorter modules to increase retention and comfort.  This ensures students leave confident, informed, and prepared. With a strong emphasis on safety, legality, and responsible firearm ownership, this comprehensive approach makes CSP’s pre-pistol course an indispensable first step for any new firearm owner and a great refresher to restart the learning process for the already skilled.
